Health and Social Care Service Support

“DOSTIA delivers dementia inclusion training that is uniquely co-designed with South Asian families, grounded in real community groups, and underpinned by the specialist research expertise of Dr Karan Jutlla – turning evidence and lived experience into practical changes in frontline care.”

DOSTIA works at the intersection of community experience and research to help health and social care services and charities become genuinely inclusive in dementia care.

Through our direct work with South Asian families and involvement in dementia research, we offer evidence-based training and consultancy that is grounded in real-life practice and lived experience.

We provide tailored training and support for health, social care and voluntary sector teams on:

    • Understanding cultural and religious perspectives on dementia
    • Communicating across language and cultural barriers
    • Supporting families who may be late to diagnosis or unsure where to seek help
    • Involving South Asian communities in service design and dementia research

Sessions can be delivered online or in person and are co-facilitated, where possible, with people who have lived experience. Our aim is to support services to offer equitable, personcentred dementia care to all communities.

DOSTIA’s training and consultancy are developed in collaboration with Dr Karan Jutlla, Advisory Board member and Associate Professor (Reader) in Dementia Care and Inclusion and Founder of the Centre for Applied and Inclusive Health Research at the University of Wolverhampton, whose work focuses on dementia and health inequalities in ethnic minority communities. This supports us in ensuring that our education and training is based on the latest evidence base.
